1986 United Kingdom Gold Sovereign

This auction is for a 1986 United Kingdom Gold Proof Sovereign Coin. The Royal Mint only issued a maximum of 17,500 £5 Brilliant Uncirculated 1986 dated gold coins for world-wide distribution. This coin is numbered 00901. The reverse depicts St. George horseback slaying the dragon, first used on United Kingdom gold coins in 1817. The obverse bears the new effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The £5 sovereign weighs 39.94 grams, measures 36.02mm in diameter and is struck in 22-karat gold.

This coin comes in a capsule with Certificate of Authenticity and box. Please take good look at the pictures

The set was packaged in a shipping box from the US Mint distribution warehouse together with a second 10th Anniversary Proof Set sealed and untouched for 15 years. Rarely do you encounter a 10th Anniversary set that is in 100% original condition right down to the gold foil cardboard inserts with sharp edges and unopened, untampered coin capsules.
