The Sovereign, deliberately created to convey the majesty and dignity of the English Throne, was first struck as a coin in 1489 during the reign of King Henry VII and was duly struck in turn by each of the Tudor Monarchs.Shortly after the Stuart succession, however, James I brought the issue of the Sovereign to an end and it did not reappear for another 200 years.The Coinage reform that followed the Napoleonic Wars brought the return of this magnificant coin and for the new Gold Sovereign of 1817, the traditional heraldic reverse was abandoned in favour of a George and Dragon of classic beauty by Benedetto Pistrucci.Now acclaimed as a masterpiece of numismatic art and famed throughout the world, Pistrucci’s St George graces the solid 22 Carat Gold Proof Half Sovereign of 1985.The obverse features the portrait of the Queen by Raphael Maklouf.These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.

ShippingWe aim to ship your item/s within a few days of receiving cleared payment. If delivery of your order is urgent, please contact us PRIOR to purchase and we will try our best to accommodate your request. All our orders are dispatched between Monday to Friday (except public holidays).
For customers looking to purchase more than one item, please purchase your items and wait for us to invoice you with our special multiple shipping discount.
We will normally charge the highest priced item shipping first and then add between 0p – £1.50 per additional item depending on weight, size, etc.

If additional Insurance is wanted above the £500 please contact us and we can give you a price. A more competitive service might be used if we feel it might work out cheaper for the customer depending on size, weight and value.
International Customers we use Royal Mail International Signed for which has tracking and covers items up to £500 depending on the country you are in (items on the Royal Mail exempt List or items which are exempt from being imported into that particular country is the responsibility of the buyer to make sure this is not the case as The London Coin Company will not be held responsible for any buyers loss. If additional Insurance is wanted above the £500 please contact us and we can give you a price.

ReturnsIf an item has been bought and is unwanted by the customer the item can be returned with in 5 days or receiving it at their own expense and the price of the item will be refunded minus our Ebay and Shipping Fees.
If an item has been bought and is genuinely not as described we must be advised immedialty upon receipt of the item and the item shipped back to us with in 5 working days unless another arangement has been agreed with The London Coin Company.
Once the item has been received if The London Coin Company found the item to be miss described we will either replace the item or refund the price of the item including any shipping fees with no problem.
