A beautiful and pristine BU example, rare date, 1994 eagle which has never been touched, and other than having been originally minted, it has never seen the light of day.  Cannot find another 1994 1/4 oz Eagle on Ebay.  The 1/4 ounce Eagle has a $10 face value.  PLEASE NOTE  – in the photos, any staining which appears on the reverse of the coin is in the camera and its lack of pixels in Macro photography.  Both sides of this coin are like the obverse, pure, clean, lustrous and absolutely magnificent.Gold American Eagle coins first minted in 1986, under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985.  The Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985, Pub. L. No. 99-185, 99 Stat. 1177 , codified and as amended, has caused the American Gold Eagle to quickly become one of the world’s leaders in gold bullion coin.  The United States Mint primarily produces circulating coinage for the United States to conduct its trade and commerce. The main Mint facility is located in Washington, D.C., and branch facilities are located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Denver, Colorado; San Francisco, California; and West Point, New York.  The #1 gold bullion coin choice among investors across the world, American Gold Eagle coins are as much an investment in safety and growth, as well as a hedge against risk, inflation and currency fluctuations.DesignAfter careful consideration, the United States mint decided to copy the design of the $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coin for the obverse of its new Gold Eagle. The $20 Saint-Gaudens was commissioned by Theodore Roosevelt to create coins of awe like the ancient Greek and Roman coins. The date, situated to the viewer’s right of Miss Liberty, appears in Roman Numerals in the years from 1986-91 it has appeared in Arabic Numerals ever since.Gold Eagles are minted using 24-karat gold plus small amounts of alloy to ensure a minimum of scratching and marring; the result is a 22-karat overall composition. Edge:      ReededComposition:     91.67% Au (Gold), 3% Ag (Silver), and  5.33% Cu (Copper)Years of Minting:     1986–present    Obverse Design:Lady Liberty may refer to:* Lady Liberty , La mortadella, 1971 French-Italian comedy* Designer:     Augustus Saint-Gaudens    Reverse Design:Eagle; large birds of prey  soaring above his nest.Designer:     Miley BusiekMiley (Busiek) Tucker-Frost is a nationally recognized monumental sculptor living in the United States, who works in bronze, steel, stone, and creates original sculpture by commission….Design Date:     1986The $10.00 Gold Eagle, 1/4 Ounce ValueAs of August 8, 2010, the US Mint sells this SAME coins, except dated 2010, at the price of $323.14 EACH !!  Given the fluctuation of spot / bullion gold prices, and with gold per ounce having closed recently at $1,205.00 per ounce … its clear that the mint prices are higher than prices which can be found on Ebay.    Within the last couple weeks, with spot not more than $1220.00, these (same – ungraded, and not certified) sold for $350 to $360.00 EACH !!!By law, the gold must come from sources in America, with an additional alloy of silver and copper to produce a more wear-resistant coin of .9167 (22 karat  Carat (purity).  The carat is a measure of the purity of gold alloys. In the United States and Canada, the spelling karat is used, while the spelling carat is used to refer to the measure of mass for gemstones. An investment grade, quality gold piece, you will stand in awe, just holding it.  Please do not handle the coin – without a piece of cloth.  The oils from your fingers etc., will result in stains.
