Set of four 1990 gold American Eagle proofs: 1 Oz $50 1990 W, 1/2 Oz $25 1990 P, 1/4 Oz $10 1990 P, and 1/10 Oz $5 1990 P. Complete with original case and COA.

The American Gold Eagle coin depicts the Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens on the obverse and a “family of eagles” on the reverse.   Minted and backed for accuracy of weight and purity by the United States Government Mint.   Each gold eagle coin is legal tender of the US government and made of real gold.   This beautiful series of coins began in 1986 and continues today. 

 Gold coins are produced in both Proof and Uncirculated condition.  (The proofs costing much more.)  Comes in four different sizes each having the same design.  Face value is in parenthesis. Each gold eagle coins is worth much more than the face value due to the gold content. Sizes are:

1/10th oz American Eagle ($5) gold coin – 16.5mm in diameter 

1/4th oz American Eagle ($10) gold coin -  22mm in diameter

1/2 ounce American Eagle ($25) gold coin -  27mm in diameter

1 ounce American Eagle ($50) gold coin -  32.7mm in diameter

 

The American Eagle Gold Proof Coins are collector versions of the official United States Mint American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins and are available in limited mintages. The obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ full-length figure of Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The reverse design, by sculptor Miley Busiek, features a male eagle carrying an olive branch, flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings.

As a proof coin, this was struck with carefully cut and hand polished dies. Additionally, highly polished gold blanks were used and the number minted was limited. The result is a coin with a highly mirrored field and delicately frosted raised surfaces that are a delight to the eye.
