Here is a well-defined, flashy 1926 $20 Saint Gaudens gold coin graded Choice MS64 by PCGS. The luster is enchanting, the strike is crisp and bold, and the surfaces are pristine and smooth. The details are so clear on this coin that you can easily spot each of the tail feathers of the Eagle on the reverse! The $20 St. Gaudens coin is a great addition to a coin collection, not just for its popularity with numismatists but also for its brilliant gold content.
Back in 1926 the Philadelphia Mint produced just a little over 800,000 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles. With the passage of over 80 years, most of this original mintage has been lost to circulation or the massive bullion melts of the 1930′s. You will certainly be hard-pressed to find a finer example than this high-end PQ rarity.
This extraordinary specimen is much nicer than many of the MS64′s I’ve seen from this mintage, and in my opinion is worth a premium over the PCGS price of the standard MS64. Currently, PCGS.com shows a value of $2,110 for the 1926 St. Gaudens graded Choice MS64.
