Starting a Gold Coin Collection

If  you are trying to find something to invest you hard earned money into the best and safest way is to invest in gold coins. Loads of people find collecting gold coins not just an absolute interesting hobby but a fairly profitable one too! Over time, your gold coins go up and up in value and it can also be sold parts at a time if you wish. This way, you will have additional income for yourself later in life which is also an amazing collection of valuable coins.

Gold coins are really popular with collectors. Issued by numerous countries, gold coins are often worth more than their face value. Especially old coins such as those that are still discovered in the wrecks of old Spanish galleons. Among more recent issues, the Krugerrand is especially popular with coin collectors. Value of a Gold coin depends on number of factors such as uniqueness, its history and its condition etc. Gold coins are known to be the safest and most risk free form of investing.

Just a bit of history bout gold coins- Gold coins dates as far back as 2,700 years ago. The very first gold coins in the world were issued in Lydia around about 640 B.C. The gold five pounds, a five sovereign coin, was first struck in 1820 for George III, although it was not issued for circulation, being only a proof pattern coin. The modern sovereign had been re-introduced in 1817.
A further proof-only version was produced in 1826 for George IV as part of the Coronation proof set, but again this was not intended for circulation
